17th Street Beach Safety Center

Scope: Project included demolition of existing lifeguard station, construction of new 2,644 beach safety center, construction of new concrete sea wall, and construction of new box culvert to replace open drainage ditch.  The new structure is a two-story facility with conventional foundations, masonry walls, slab-on-grade, wood framed second floor and roof structure, and structural steel components for cantilever deck at second level.  Interior finishes include exposed CMU walls, gypsum board ceilings, special coatings, polished concrete floors at first floor, and ceramic tile in restrooms.
